Overview

Regan Toups has the unique experience of working both as a practicing attorney and an insurance industry insider. After a 17-year career defending healthcare providers, hospitals and businesses with a regional law firm, Regan transitioned to an in-house role, where she worked over four and a half years managing complex and catastrophic litigation and claims for insurance carriers nationwide.  Regan has now returned to the practice of law with a focus on civil defense litigation, including trucking and transportation, products liability and premises liability.

Regan knows what it takes to provide excellent client service. She was the client.  In her last role, Regan hired Taylor | Anderson to handle her toughest cases, and the Firm's responsiveness and sheer capability impressed her time and time again. That's why, when she decided to get back into private practice, she knew Taylor | Anderson was the right fit.  With this unique perspective, Regan is poised to know what clients need, and her experience renders her capable of delivering it.

Experience

Regan has tried numerous cases to verdict, including medical malpractice cases, automotive collisions and premises liability. She has handled a diverse range of litigation in both state and federal courts with a trial-focused approach. She has successfully argued matters before the North Carolina Court of Appeals, and she has obtained numerous dismissals of cases at the pleading and summary judgment stages. She has also partnered with clients, including insurance carriers, hospitals, professionals and companies of all sizes, to identify potential litigation risks and solutions.

Prior to joining Taylor │Anderson, Regan gained valuable experience working as the Vice President of Litigation Management with eMaxx Assurance Group of Companies. During her time with eMaxx, Regan managed the defense of high exposure bodily injury and environmental claims. She drove the strategy and management of outside counsel to ensure all aspects of legal representation were of the highest quality. She also provided oversight during claims investigations to help identify potential litigation, coverage issues and tender opportunities through comprehensive review of claims, insurance policies and business agreements.
