Overview

Chris Mordy represents clients in personal injury, complex business, civil, and commercial litigation.  

Prior to joining Taylor Anderson, Chris was a solo practitioner and obtained favorable verdicts and settlements on behalf of both plaintiffs and defendants.  Chris successfully represented contractors, construction managers, and numerous other small and medium sized business.  

Since joining Taylor Anderson, Chris has defended clients in multi-million dollar catastrophic injury cases.  Chris has worked extensively in all facets of litigation including pre-trial matters, bench and jury trials, and appeals. 

Experience

Personal Injury Litigation

  • After a seven-week trial in Orange County, the jury returned a defense verdict for a nationwide property manager in just over an hour of deliberations.  Plaintiff’s claims for negligence related to alleged mold exposure.
  • Settled a wrongful death claim in San Jose against a gym for a nominal settlement.  The case concerned a claim that the gym failed to maintain and operate an AED device.
  • Settled a wrongful death claim in Palm Springs on very favorable terms based on a claim that the driver was not operating in the course and scope of employment at the time of the accident.
  • Settled a premises liability case in Oakland against an elder care facility for a nominal settlement.  The case concerned a deliveryman who fell and suffered significant orthopedic injuries.
  • Successfully argued against a motion to quash service of summons on a foreign company based in Germany.  This was the first time that a court had determined that the company was subject to California jurisdiction.  Chris further prevailed when the company filed multiple appeals.
  • Won a defense verdict after a five-week trial in Bakersfield for commercial refrigerator repair company in a slip-and-fall case.  A co-defendant was found responsible and required to pay $4.3 million in damages.
  • Settled a wrongful death case in Las Vegas on very favorable terms.  The Plaintiff had fallen while exiting a Las Vegas gym.

Business Litigation

  • Successfully moved to set aside default due to prior attorney’s malpractice on the eve of default prove-up hearing.  The case was then settled for a nominal amount.
  • Settled a partnership dissolution matter on very favorable terms with limited discovery.
  • Successfully defended a pharmacist accused of fraud, breach of fiduciary duties, and other claims. 
  • Obtained preliminary injunctions on multiple occasions due to breach of CC&Rs in La Jolla, California.
  • Successfully obtained multiple trial verdicts on claims of breach of CC&Rs.
